1. solve the conflict between the age of nitrifying bacteria and polyphosphate bacteria

phosphorus-accumulating bacteria used a short sludge age in the activated sludge stage. the nitrifying bacteria existed independently at the biofilm stage. phosphorous bacteria and nitrifying bacteria no longer interfered with each other.

2. sludge settlement performance is good, to avoid sludge swelling

because of the short residence time of activated sludge in the abm process, it can inhibit the growth of filamentous bacteria and avoid sludge swelling. generally svi is less than 100 ml/g, and sludge sedimentation performance is good.

3. no loss of nitrifying bacteria, high nitrification efficiency

the phase of baf biofilm in the presence of nitrifying bacteria is a fixed-bed reactor with no excess sludge emissions, effectively preventing the loss of nitrifying bacteria. in addition, nitrifying bacteria are always in an aerobic environment and do not suffer from anaerobic decay, which greatly increases the nitrification efficiency.

4. elimination of the effect of nitrates in return sludge on phosphorus release from polyphosphates

in the activated sludge stage, the aerobic tank uses a short sludge age, and no nitrification reaction occurs in the control tank. this prevents the nitrate from flowing back to the anaerobic tank through the sludge and inhibits the growth of the phosphorus accumulating bacteria, thus solving the problem of competing for carbon sources of anoxic tank and nitrification reaction. contradictions ensure the effectiveness of simultaneous biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal.
